What are main match funds?

The NewsMatch main match is available to participating news organizations with annual expenses under $1 million in the prior calendar year (2025).

Main match funds are matched up to a designated match cap, which will be announced in October 2026.

All INN members who apply to participate, regardless of operating budget size, are still eligible for partner funds and goal-based bonus awards. For reference, during the 2025 campaign, the average payout from NewsMatch to organizations not eligible for the main fund was over $15,000
