What are goal-based bonus awards?

Bonus awards are issued to newsrooms that hit certain target growth metrics. These goals are designed to create opportunities to build sustainable fundraising practices for newsroom participants. Bonuses for the 2026 campaign will be announced in early October.

In some cases, the bonus award amount is shared with newsrooms when it is announced. In other cases, bonus dollars are calculated by what remains in the fund once the match dollars have been issued.
