Community Call: Securing Local Matches (2024)

"Local" or "community" match funds are donations that newsrooms secure on their own to increase the total amount of dollars matched by individuals during your NewsMatch campaign.

In these conversations, hear from newsrooms about how they secured matches for their year-end campaign and used them to bolster individual giving. Come prepared with your questions about how to pursue your own community matches.

DID YOU KNOW?

During NewsMatch 2023, community matches secured by newsrooms exceeded investments made by the program for the second year in a row, indicating that NewsMatch is an opportunity for newsrooms to in build their philanthropic and major donor support through securing community matches.

These sessions are for you if your newsroom is just starting to explore securing your own matches and has:

  1. An existing donor base to scan for prospects
  2. Existing relationships with a foundation or business that you can explore

Not ready to take this step yet? That’s ok! Use NewsMatch as an opportunity to build your base to power next year’s campaign effort.
