How to update your FindYourNews.org profile

FindYourNews.org is INN’s public-facing discovery website that allows visitors to find and connect with INN’s entire network of member organizations.

INN members can now easily maintain their outlet’s directory listing directly through the FindYourNews Member Profile Builder. Everything you save here automatically syncs to your record in INN's member portal (MemberSuite) and updates on FindYourNews.org right away.

Questions or missing listings? 🧐

If you experience trouble accessing your account or need help with a missing listing, please contact INN at membership@inn.org.

Updating Your Listing

Step 1: Sign in via the FindYourNews Member Profile Builder

  1. Navigate to the FindYourNews Member Profile Builder.
  2. Click Sign in with MemberSuite. You will be redirected to INN's MemberSuite sign-in page.
  3. Enter your MemberSuite email address and password.

Sign-In Tips 💡

  • Select your personal profile: If MemberSuite asks you to choose a profile after signing in, select your own name, not your organization's name. The Profile Builder will automatically determine which listings you are authorized to edit based on your account.
  • First-time sign-ins / Password Resets: If MemberSuite notifies you that it has moved to a new sign-in system, click Continue, follow the link sent to your email to set a new password, then return and sign in again.
  • "Sign-in link expired or already used" error: Sign-in links are valid for one trip within 30 minutes. Close any extra tabs, click Sign in with MemberSuite again, or clear your browser's cookies if the issue persists.

Step 2: Select your publication listing

Once signed in, you will see the newsroom listing(s) you are authorized to manage.

  • You can edit a newsroom's listing if you hold one of the following roles in MemberSuite: Primary Contact, Billing Contact, or Member Admin Contact.
  • If you hold one of these roles for an organization with multiple newsrooms, choose the specific publication you want to update from the list.
  • If a listing you maintain is missing, contact membership@inn.org.

Step 3: Edit your profile details & logo

Fill out or update the fields for your publication (see Best Practices below for guidance on specific fields).

Uploading your Organization Logo:

  1. Under the Publication section, select a file and click Upload logo.
  2. Requirements: PNG or JPEG image, maximum file size of 2 MB, and at least 64x64 pixels.
  3. Note: Uploading a logo saves it immediately—separately from the main "Save changes" button. Be sure to save any text edits first before uploading a new logo file.

Step 4: Save your changes

When you are finished making edits, click Save changes.

  • Instant Updates: Unlike the previous system, directory changes confirm immediately and reflect on FindYourNews.org right away.
  • Confirmation Email: Every time changes are saved, a summary email is sent to the email address tied to your MemberSuite account.
  • Verifying Current Info: Clicking Save changes also re-confirms to INN that your listing is accurate and up to date, even if no text was changed.

Changing Your Headquarters Address

  • Your headquarters address cannot be updated directly within the Profile Builder because it is tied to INN's billing records.
  • To update your official address, please email membership@inn.org.

Publication Profile Best Practices

For maximum discoverability, ensure the following fields are filled out accurately:

Field Best Practice Guidelines
Organization Logo In the editor, under Publication, choose a file and click Upload logo. Logos can be PNG or JPEG images, up to 2 MB and at least 64 pixels on each side; very large images are scaled down. Uploading saves the logo right away, separately from Save changes, so save any other edits first.
Tagline A one-sentence description (250-character limit) that appears in initial search results to explain what your outlet does.
Website & Donation URLs Always include the full URL protocol (http:// or https://). For example, entering inn.org will result in a broken link, but [https://inn.org](https://inn.org) will properly redirect visitors.
Primary Issue Areas Covered Ensure these are topics you cover regularly. You can select up to 5 primary issue areas covered.
Coverage: Geographic Scope Select either Local, State or Province, Regional, National or Global. From there, you will have the ability to either adjust the radius or select the specific states, provinces or countries. Please only enter the location(s)  where your organization has reporters on the ground or an active reporting partnership.
