NewsMatch Application Process

Applications for NewsMatch 2025 will open Monday, April 20, 2026 and close Tuesday, May 5, 2026 at 11:59 pm PT. 

While only U.S.-based active INN members can participate in NewsMatch, you may still apply as a provisional member or if your organization is pending approval. If you are a provisional member, you will need to become a full member by late summer to participate in NewsMatch (more information here). 

The application is your way of telling us that you plan on participating in the campaign. We require organizations to apply so that we have a clear number of participants to effectively forecast funding.

As long as you’re a U.S.-based INN newsroom that became a member-in-good-standing by December 2025, you won’t be turned away from NewsMatch. You'll hear back from the NewsMatch team by the end of May, confirming your participation and next steps.

The deadline to renew your annual membership in time to participate in NewsMatch is June 30, 2026.
