Who is behind NewsMatch?

NewsMatch is a collaborative effort between newsrooms, funders, and industry service organizations.

The program is managed by Institute for Nonprofit News (INN), a nationwide network of 360+ independent, nonprofit, nonpartisan news organizations. In addition to coordinating the program, INN also provides training resources and support to participating organizations.

News Revenue Hub serves as a key learning partner that creates a series of time-saving resources and learning resources to help newsrooms run a successful year-end campaign.

NewsMatch is supported through the Fund for Nonprofit News, an open collaborative fund at The Miami Foundation. The Foundation oversees the fiscal administration of NewsMatch funds and oversees the application and reporting process for NewsMatch.

Key funders to NewsMatch over the last five years include the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation, Democracy Fund, Google News Initiative, Meta Journalism Project, Dirk and Natasha Ziff, Jonathan Logan Family Foundation, inasmuch Foundation, Loud Hound Foundation, and several other family and private foundations.
