How do I set up a Facebook Fundraiser?

Visit these helpful instructions on how to set up a fundraiser on Facebook. We recommend organizations create a “nonprofit fundraiser” which will allow you to collect the donor information needed to verify donations. There are also other tools you can use to boost your campaign and qualify for this bonus. Check them out here.

Do I have to have a 501c3 to set up a Facebook Fundraiser?

Yes, newsrooms must be a 501c3 to create a nonprofit fundraiser on Facebook. Facebook personal fundraisers can be used to raise money for a project or cause. View Facebook’s personal fundraiser policies.

How can I take advantage of this opportunity if I am fiscally sponsored?

We encourage you to reach out to your fiscal sponsor to learn whether they are capable of creating a Facebook fundraiser on your behalf.

Does the $1,000 individual donor cap apply to the Facebook (Meta) Fundraiser?

It does not apply. Major donors can count towards the local match. For example, if one donor gives $2,500 towards a Facebook (Meta) Fundraiser, we'd count the full $2,500 to determine their bonus award and not just the amount up to the $1,000 match cap.
